In the Beginning...Ashley was nervous.

Hello one and all,

This here blog that you're reading is here to serve several purposes:
Purpose #1: Instead of letters and email updates- my dear friends can keep abreast of what I'm doing right here.
Purpose #2: For those of you who are like me and searched for hours trying to find blogs of people who volunteered at Fundación Aldeas de Paz. Well, here you go! I just made life a little bit easier for you.
Purpose #3: As my own personal journal.

Now, I am not in Venezuela yet, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling with this blog, so bear with me as I get used to this writing form.

Right now, I am a jittery, anxious, and crazy bundle of nerves. Why, you might ask? Because in a week I will be heading south to the land of man-eating dinosaurs and other equally dangerous prehistoric beasts.......no, not Jurassic Park- but Venezuela! I will be living there for two and a half months teaching velociraptors children a little bit about English, Maths, and Music-- my speciality!
But to be honest with you, I expect I will be learning a lot more from this experience then what the kids will be learning from me. And I sure do hope I'm up to it.

I will be filling in the blanks over the next few days and weeks, but for now, I have plenty of work to do just prepping for the trip- washing, ironing, rolling, folding, packing, list-making, praying(A LOT) etc.  So I'll catch you all later!
